Universal Keyless Entry Remote Introduced

Now you only need one remote to unlock the doors to multiple vehicles.

Many of us have universal remotes for our home entertainment systems. A universal remote allows you to control several devices with one unit, which helps you avoid clutter and confusion. Now, that same concept is available for your cars. KeylessRide has introduced a system that it calls the industry’s first universal automotive keyless entry remote. Branded as K2, the unit offers the same functionality as the factory original keyless entry system and works on virtually all models of the current year.

Each K2 remote is capable of operating up to two vehicles, significantly reducing cost while lightening up your keychain. The only customer information a retailer needs to configure a K2 remote is the year, make and model of the customer’s vehicle. Once configured, the K2 remote is then paired with the customer’s vehicle through a simple five-minute activation procedure. Since the K2 remote unit controls the original equipment lock-unlock system already present in the vehicle, the activation procedure does not require the installation of any aftermarket add-on modules -- another huge plus for consumers.

The K2 Forge retail remote system will be demonstrated at the 2012 International CES show, which runs from January 10-13, 2012, in Las Vegas. We expect that the system will be available to consumers later next year.
